20 Oklahoma Parental Choice Tax Credit Rule Changes
The Oklahoma Tax Commission has released new rules for the Oklahoma Parental Choice Tax Credit. OPSA has made a list of 20 important changes for our...
With the enactment of Senate Bill 783 (2021), the Legislature made comprehensive reforms to Oklahoma’s school transfer laws, namely revising the requirements for accepting and denying student transfers and requiring school districts to set and list enrollment capacities on their websites. These changes, among others, went into effect on January 1, 2022, and make students eligible to request a transfer to any district in the state, regardless of where they live.
OPSA has compiled a list of a select number of districts across the state with links to their district's open transfer page, the # of openings that they have, how to apply, if they have a wait list available, and their 2024-2025 application acceptance date. Processing for the 2024-2025 school year opened on June 1, 2024. If you were on a waitlist for the current school year (2023-2024), you will need to fill out a NEW application for the 2024-2025 school year. It is recommended to always check the website of the school district to confirm details. Most school districts store this information on the enrollment or open transfer section of their websites.
Oklahoma Parents for Student Achievement (OPSA) is also always happy to help! You can reach out to us via text at (833) 270-7766 or via email at parents@okpsaedu.org.
You can find the statewide open transfer form here.
The statewide online open transfer application is now up and running at this site. If you were in a public school for 2023-2024, you will need your student's ten-digit state testing number (STN) to complete your application, which you can get from your current school district. Some districts have this information listed on the student's report card.
If you are denied the transfer, you can appeal it using this form.
The information below was updated on 4/1/2024 with the newest # of openings posted and updated application information.
