Your Feedback on the the Emergency Rules for Oklahoma's Parental Choice Tax Credit Made a Difference

Our team at Oklahoma Parents for Student Achievement is sending a huge THANK YOU to the literally thousands of Oklahomans who submitted their comments to the Oklahoma Tax Commission on their Oklahoma School Choice Tax Credit rules.

Thanks to all of you we were able to get many positive changes that have simplified the rules and eased the burdens on families and schools. Here are some of the positive changes:

  • The emergency rules required one application per child, but the amended rules state a single application is needed per each family.
  • Private school families will not be required to fill out a 1099.
  • The final rules clearly state that students who are “expected to enroll” in an accredited private school are eligible for the program.
  • The school will no longer be required to collect student’s sensitive personal information including their social security number.
  • Regulations for schools have been eased and simplified.
  • The rules now reflect the broadest definition of “accredited” as found in the legislation for the program.

Again, all these changes are a direct result of Oklahomans calling the OTC to ask for these changes. Thanks for helping us make a brighter future for all our students.
